The AERONOVA team has fully restored the NOVA-01 airship after a series of tests.
As a reminder, the team had previously decided to test the airship in weather conditions beyond the maximum design limits. During the tests, the airship sustained damage: the envelope ruptured, and the gondola structure failed. However, no externally mounted equipment was damaged.
The airship’s envelope was restored in the shortest possible time and is once again fully airtight. Specialists have already successfully completed its inflation. The gondola has been rebuilt with the necessary adjustments. Engineers also reinstalled key systems: the onboard computer, battery packs, servos, the tail assembly and reinforced nose module, as well as the steering thruster and the emergency flight termination system.
The airship has been fully restored and has already completed its first test flight.
“I would like to note that testing is an integral part of our work, and it is precisely situations like this that allow us to identify shortcomings, gain invaluable experience, and refine the technology. NOVA-01 was created for this very purpose and will continue to fulfill it,” — said Fedor Konstantinov, AERONOVA’s technical director.
The company plans to begin a second round of testing on this airship in the near future.
